The Melting Shack

Bringing the food and feeling of the mountains to the Netherlands.

From the mountains to the Netherlands

Our Story

Skiing in the mountains has always been a big part of Pete's life.

Family ski trips were about making the most of every minute on the slopes. Lunch might be a sandwich in a cable car and a bar of chocolate, but dinner was different: warm, generous and always shared.

That's where the love of raclette and fondue began.

For years, Pete and his brother Si talked about starting a street food business together, but they hadn't found the idea that felt quite right.

Then, on a trip to Montmartre in Paris, Pete discovered a small stall serving raclette baguettes.

One bite brought everything together.

It was the taste of the mountains, served as street food.

And that became The Melting Shack: bringing the Alpine food they grew up loving to the Netherlands.

Today, it's all about melted cheese, good food and bringing people together.

The food

Alpine comfort food

Inspired by long days on the slopes and evenings spent around the table, our food is simple, warming and made for sharing.

Molten raclette cheese being scraped from a half wheel onto crusty bread

Raclette

Melted, scraped and served hot.

Golden raclette melted under the grill and scraped straight onto bread — proper Alpine comfort food, one scrape at a time.
